Great Stone Face Books 2009-10
Voting in April!
Great Stone Face Books The Great Stone Face Book Award is sponsored by the Children's Librarians of New Hampshire (CHILIS) and is given each year to an author whose book receives the most votes from fourth through sixth graders throughout the state. Each year a committee chooses 25 recently published titles, which children then use as a guide for voting. The vote takes place every April during National Library Week, and the winner is announced in May. The purpose of the award is to promote reading enjoyment, to increase awareness of contemporary writing, and to allow children to honor their favorite author.

Hawke The Reading Dog
Hawke The Reading Dog is a real library lover. She comes for her regular visit on the first Wednesday of every month. This year Hawke has a new goal she's barking for the title: 'Tail Wagging Tutor' of the year. Hawke is a 9 year old black labrador, also a well trained therapy dog who's all ears to listen to a good story. Children can read to her from their favorite picture book for ten minutes and in return receive a few sloppy kisses. Children who would like to read to Hawke can choose their own picture/storybook here at the library before they go in to share their story with her. When signing up please indicate what time you would like to come in 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:40, 4:50, 5:00. Time slots are an approximate.
